Back to the Grind

First day back to school...ugh? So the girls headed back to school today with some mixed emotions mainly from me. I don't know why but this year was really hard for me. Maybe it was because Emily is almost wearing the same size clothes or amybe because they headed off to a new school? Each year they beg me to come into their class room and take first day pictures and I do. I admit I got a bit tear-y eyed after seeing them march to their tables and not "need" me. Thats good though, right?

This year was different because they are starting at a new school, same neighborhood, but a new school was built and the boundry includes our home. They were quite sad at first when they found out that they would be leaving friends behind at a school they felt so comfortable in but on the other hand were looking forward to new and exciting rooms, halls, teachers, friends and yes technology!

The morning came early and went fast as follows:

7am mom up having morning coffee (other wise I am a bear!)

7:30 girls up, Alli too, dressed and hair done

7:45 mom showered and getting ready, girls eating cookie crisp ( unhealthy I know but I dare not fight with tem on the first day!)

8:30 make beds and do finishing touch on hair, clothes and lunches

8:55 head to car and off to school, Alli in tow!

The new school is a "walking" school due to the fact that all the 480 students live w/in 1 mile of it. However, I don't feel comfortable having the girls walk 1 mile down hills to school so I am planning on driving them either to the bus stop (3/4 mile away) or to school. Knowing my children, it will probably be to school because they (okay and me too) are always late!

Alli and I spent the day out and about, the Library, shopping etc. I think she missed sisters. She was a bit disoriented, watching Handy Many with out Emily...

The girls got out at 3:20 and were all smiles, despite being too hot from over dressing. Meghan has two teachers, they are team teaching, she loves them both! Emily has a substitute because they had an unexpected large student enrollment in the last week, over 100 kids?! They said she will have a permanent teacher with in a week, we pray!

Overall they had a good day and were very calm and tired when they got home. I only can hope this is the tone for the rest of the year....we'll see about that?
